A Principal Composites Engineer is required to join a leading british production boatbuilder. Due to unprecendented growth in a very competitve market, this industry powerhouse is bolstering its team across composites, design and engineering to cope with new technology and new model introductions. With an exciting 5 year plan, there is an accelerated requirement to stay ahead of the competition. As a composite boatbuilder,there is a constant evolution in the way craft are made. New technology is increasing strength, weight and rigidity and new materials are allowing for new layup methods to be used. This is currently being intorduced to the brand with a number of new models being built with materials not used in hull construction by them before. The Principal Composites Engineer will be the champion of composites manufacturing within the business, be this pushing external design partners to create stronger, lighter or more economical hulls lines, or assisting the senior production team in the trialling of new composite methods. Working at all levels of business hierarchy, your role will be to ensure that each project is fit for design, cost and production time, wilst upholiding the brand standard of quality, comfort and seafaring. As an individual, you will be a maritime composites expert, a geek of sorts. With an education background and understanding of Composites, composites design and composites engineering you have the ability to design and produce in composite material, ideally with prior experience with both. You will have worked with both carbon and GRP, using methods such as wet-lay, resin infusion and pre-preg/sprint and be comfortable educating a shop floor worker one minute, but producing an FEA assessment the next. Considering your intended contact within the business, you will need to be conifdent and sure of your ability and decisions. Showing a clear drive to break new ground ina competitive market, you'll work with the Heads of Development and Naval Architecture to produce exciting new works that will be sold internationally.
