Job Category: Engineering

Are you keen to make a career move to one of the leading british boatbuilders, fresh from scooping awards at Cannes Yacht Show? Fairline Yachts have had a fantastic 2017 following their relaunch and it seems the sky in the limit for this Midlands-based brand. With their recently launched 63-footer gaining some major press, the business is hot on the heels of this launch in developing new products. Before these craft can even be built however, the boats need to be designed and engineered. The design office team is growing steadily, with a team of driven engineers and draughtsmen working tirelessly to update, modify and innovate to ensure the Fairline product remains at the forefront of motoryacht design. Within the office there is now a requirement for a Design Engineer/Draughtsman to join the team, working within the 'Special Projects' part of the business. When a customer is spending well in excess of £500,000 on their new motoryacht, they will expect the opportunity to be able to customise their yacht to their requirements. This could be in the form of altered furniture, different systems or additions. The sky really can be the limit. The Special Projects team will be little different to the rest of the design office, as tyou'll be involved in the customer consultation process. You'll be discussing requirements and suggesting solutions, as well as at times going away to run basic engineering test to confirm requirements. Your work will be all custom, so your day to day role will prove very varied! As an individual you'll become an integral part of the team, as your workings will be what are passed to the production floor for fabrication and build. Your attention to detail will need to be exceptional and your timekeeping on top form. Whilst you'll be supporting an engineer, you'll also need to be able to work without supervision to ensure tight timelines can be met. You'll be education in Yacht Design, Mechanical Engineering or similar, and have a passion for the leisure marine sector. Placement or post-grad experience are essential, as is a desire to build a strong career with an employer that will provide training and support to fastrack you to your career goals. A strong grasp of 3D/2D softwares will also be key (ideally Siemens NX), but most importantly, that desire to succeed will need to be obvious! You'll be provided with a salary of £25-28,000 plus a selection of benefits. If this sounds like you, then we'd love to hear from you.
