Chartered Marine Engineer - Superyachts

Our Reference: J4701

Job Terms: Permanent

Location: UK wide

Salary: £60k

Job Category: Engineering

The superyacht industry is currently flying, with an international new-build order book that is filled to the brim at shipyards across Europe. Customers are spending more and more on bigger and bigger boats, with management firms running the build process from start to finish in many cases. Some will provide an owners rep, whilst others will invest their services across the entire project spectrum, from design process to final handover. Our client is an established brand in this space, with a host of new build and refit projects under their belts and a list of new projects expected to start in the coming months. Employing a permanent employed team from their offices, they offer a turnkey service to the client, from design review, through classification and then build. They pride themselves on their level of service and are looking to add to their collection of experts. The role of Marine Engineer will act as technical lead on each project. Working both from the head office and on-site throughout the build, you will be the font of knowledge for the project, offering advice from concept stage, gaining plan approval and ensuring your vessels meet class requirements. You'll then start spending more time on site, conducting regular inspections and liaising with the designer and shipyard to ensure the project is kept on track and is built in line with expectations. When a customer is spending many millions on their project, the quality of the Engineer will need to reflect the quality expected. You'll need to be able to exhibit the following talents to be considered: - Chartered Engineer status (5+ years chartered experience) - New-build experience - ideally from a review/class perspective - Project management experience - An ability to technically manage on site, but deal openly with an owner or their rep An ideal background would have been gained through a classification Society or technical consultancy in either large yachts or commercial vessels. An outgoing manner and quick thinking mind will be essential too! In return you'll be joining a company that will embrace your talent, helping you grow and enjoy your career in this decadent world! You'll receive a strong salary and benefits package as well as fully expensed travel when on company business.
