The Youth Racing Department's primary focus is to support and develop youth sailors to win medals for the British Youth Sailing Team, as well as retaining our young racers in the sport. The Royal Yachting Association, based in Hamble, Southampton is the national governing body for all forms of boating, including dinghy and yacht racing, motor and sail cruising, RIBs and sports boats, powerboat racing, windsurfing, inland cruising and narrowboats, and personal watercraft. This role is a 9-12 month contract covering a period of maternity leave. We will need you to manage a variety of projects ranging from one-day domestic training camps to 2 week World Championships. On top of this you will be expected to ensure your event logistics provide a cost effective solution every time. Reporting to the RYA Youth Operations Manager, you will manage the diary/logistics for the Youth Racing Manager and work alongside two other Senior Administrators forming a cohesive team of outstanding individuals. Computer proficiency is paramount, we love an excel spreadsheet, do you? We also use online event entry systems for all our in-house events and your duties will also include regular editing of the RYA website. While computer literacy is essential you also need to be a good verbal communicator. We need someone who is not afraid to talk, or listen; be sympathetic, yet stand their ground. Daily interaction with sailors, parents, coaches, sailing venues and travel companies, both in the UK and abroad, means that this job is never dull and no two days are the same.
