Boatyard Supervisor required for a busy and rapidly expanding marina in Dorset. To manage and oversee the day to day operations of all aspects of the boatyard , supervising staff , ensuring a safe and professional service outside in the boat yard and liaising with the customers and office. Responsibilities: - Maintains clear communications between customer, boatyard, admin staff. - Co-ordinate all the boatyard activity between customer and staff. - Organisation of the schedule for the boatyard diary and efficient use of the hard standing areas. - Provide efficient customer service at all times. - Ensure that procedures are in place to monitor use of materials , hours of labour and profitability of the boat yard services. - To be responsible for day to day safe working practises and health and safety relating to yard operations. - On-time launch and recovery of dry stack boats. - Maintenance of machinery to ensure maximum operational time Attributes: - Excellent interpersonal skills with staff and customers. - Ability to supervise staff fairly but firmly where necessary. - Team leader who works by setting an example to others. - Good time management - Presentable in appearance. - Positive attitude, problem solving ability, and willingness to be a part of a team. - Ability to Maintain and build on our reputation of professional boatyard/marina operators. - Physical fitness is an essential aspect of the role due to the nature of the tasks. Skills and experience: - Experience of managing a team. - Excellent admin skills with proven experience - Excellent boat handling skills, RYA qualifications a bonus but hands on experience important. - Proven Knowledge in all forms of boat repair. - Proven experience in boat yard operations and machinery. - Proven experience with modern health and safety practises. KPIs: - Number of boats lifted and launched throughout the year. - Praise from customers and the team. - Repeat business. - Win business from our competitors. - Staff well trained and supervised. - Happy and motivated staff. - Staff issues dealt with swiftly and effectively. - Clear communications with all staff and customers. - Yard and equipment well maintained and organised. - All accidents kept to a minimum through effective health and safety practises. - Achieve budgetary targets The Yard supervisor is expected to work closely with the Boatcare Manager and Berthing manager , to make sure that boatyard/berthing customers and visitors understand the range of services that the boatcare team can provide. From time to time you may be asked to cover roles in the boatcare team, though this is not a primary function of the role. Ultimately, the Yard supervisor is also there to deliver the company’s business plan for the marina and boatyard , where the next target is to increase the number of boats coming ashore each year and to increase the number of dry stack berth holders from 80 to 140, by ensuring a professional and well run boatyard operation.
