A new exciting role in the Maldives Jalboot Marinas provides first rate marina management services alongside ferry, chater and maintenance services provided through the wider group. The company specialises in providing integrated solutions for destination marinas and assets integrated into resort developments. Jalboot Marinas have a vacancy for a Marina Manager for a client in the Maldives. The 60 slip Marina is the first leisure marina built in the Maldives and is the centerpiece of a new extensive resort featuring multiple hotels, dozens of beach villas, over-water chalets and over thirty retail / food and beverage outlets. The marina will open in the late summer of 2019 in parallel with some well-known brands - Hard Rock, Cafe Del Mar and Curio by Hilton. The Marina Manager [MM] is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the marina with a focus on delivering high service standards in an opulent setting. The MM is expected to play a key role in canvassing for and retaining berthing clients a range of segments. The MM will play a central role in the liaison between different departments and stakeholders for the delivery of a range of integrated concierge services to marina clients. Competencies Sought Candidates suitable for the position will display / be able to prove the following - 1. Good salesmanship: ideally evidenced in a marine-related field and /or based on experience in the Middle East, Indian Ocean or South East Asia. Good business contacts that could translate into berthing sales in the Maldives would be a strong advantage. 2. Good leadership and communication skills: the capacity to train, inspire and manage the performance of a multinational team. 3. Good presentation skills for regular reporting to seniors and the client. 4. A minimum of 3 years management experience in a marina, hospitality resort or boat / leisure management setting. More would be better, but we are open to considering candidates with parralel industries. 5. Strong mariner and marina technical skills: awareness of HSEQ, book keeping, seafaring skills and the how the MEP components of a marina work. 6. A commitment to being on site at the resort year round with the exception of leave, or international training/boat show attendance. Work over some weekends will be required. Accommodation, internet access and food is provided on site. Malé is a 20 minute ferry ride away should a candidate wish to live off-site. 7. Physically fit, able to swim and lead an intervention in the event of a marina emergency. 8. Comfortable interacting with people irrespective of their social and economic background. 9. Local knowledge, be that linguistic, business or maritime would be an advantage. 10. A good understanding of the logistical considerations and constraints under which charter and private luxury vessels operate within the Maldives.
