Fairline Yachts, based in Northampton, are currently expanding their design team in order to cope with increased demand. Following the very successful launch of their 63 GTO that has seen orders already into double figures, the brand is planning to launch at least two further models in 2018/19. Working with AM Design for their concepts and Vripack for their major engineering, Fairline Yachts employ a skilled team of engineers and draughtspeople to turn these ideas into reality, with the design office working hard to ensure that the Fairline product is of both exceptional quality and follows their ambitions to offer a luxury, quiet and comfortable product with extensive customisation options. As each model within the range can be ordered with a number of different interior layouts, there is a need to add to the furniture design team in order to ensure each new model or facelift is correctly designed and engineered to company standards. Duties within this role will include: - 3D modelling furniture layouts, fixed and free-standing furniture on all models - Engineering solutions for best fit and quality - Creation of BOMs - Innovation in furniture production techniques Working on-site, you will be able to visit the furniture production line to assess your work and further assist your troubleshooting. As the brand continues to grow, there will be more need to streamline the furniture production process including devising flat-pack methods, so a chance to spend time physically working with the product will be ideal. In terms of your background, you will have gained experience in either a Design or Engineering discipline and have worked within a furniture manufacturing employer for a minimum of two years. Key industries of interest would include the motorhome/caravan sector, marine or large automotive vehicles, where furniture is generally manufactured for a moving vehicle on a volume scale. Whilst the business use Siemens NX as their 3D software, this is not essential as full training will be provided, however strong 2D/3D skills are essential as is a team-playing attitude and a desire for career growth.
