Design Engineer - Production Yachts

Fairline Yachts are currently one of the hottest names in production boatbuilding. Following the launch of the 63 GTO earlier this summer and a recent annoucement surrounding expansion, the business is growing at a rate of knots, with a fantastic outlook for the coming 18 months. With a constantly evolving product line and new designs being penned by their design partners, Fairline are currently looking to expand their design office team with the addition of a Junior Design Engineer to the team, based in Northamptonshire. Joining a team of skilled engineers that total 11, this role will not hold any direct discipline direction, instead catering towards all areas of the craft, touching on mechanical, electrical, structural/exernal and interiors. Whilst there is a specialist dedicated to each area, this design engineer will work cross-team in order to effectively manage engineering challenges. With a keen eye for detail and problem-solving, the Design Engineer will work to ensure each mini-project is expertly fitted, engineering for performance, comfort and NVH and will not offer any challenges to the production team when it comes to building. Encompassing 3d Modelling, 2D drafting and population of the BOM, this will be a diverse role that will broaden your experience levels further. In terms of your experience, you'll hvae gained a degree or similar in Yacht Design/Production or Mechanical Engineering and have a keen interest in working on marine projects, ideally as a sailor or powerboater yourself. You'll be attentive, working to strict personal standards and able to effectively manage your own time. In terms of experience, you'll ideally have worked either a placement year or 1-2 years post university in a design engineering role and be able to apply these skills to a role with Fairline Yachts. Your software skills with 2D and 3D will be strong, ideally with Siemens NX and Autocad (although NX not essential) and your overall PC manner will need to be of a high standard.
